I am a ceramic and mixed media artist living and working in the Sierra Nevada foothill town of Murphys, California. I grew up in Marin County, and later achieved a Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) in Ceramics with electives in Fiber and completed a Master’s Degree of Fine Arts from Pennsylvania State University in 2001 with a focus in Ceramics. I returned to teach within the Bachelor’s program at KCAI while exhibiting my work locally and nationally, as well as instructing at Red Star Studios.
In 2004, I moved back to California and built my home studio in Murphys, a striking contrast from the urban environment I had worked in for so many years. I opened a small working studio and gallery downtown, High Fire Studios, and then a larger co-owned gallery with Allegorie art | wine, representing my work as well as other local artists. Driven by my passion of natural and wild spaces, the context of this small town nestled within the expansive mountains offers a conducive environment to create and support my fascination in addressing our relationship between Environment and Industry.
