Each tile is handmade using a selected local red stoneware clay body from Quyle Kilns, a pottery that has been in production for well over 60 years here in the Foothills. I begin making each tile starting with a “master” that I’ve carefully designed and meticulously carved, which is then cast into plaster giving me a workable mold. Clay is then pushed into these master molds individually, allowing for variation, nuance, and unique character. Each tile is then hand glazed and fired, undergoing constant assessments along the way, and has a built-in wall mount and signature on the back.
